Who Can Vote Vote By Mail?

If you are a qualified registered voter, you are entitled to vote by mail for any reason pursuant to Florida Statue 101.62.

Requesting A Vote By Mail Ballot

Vote By Mail Ballots may be requested for a specific election or for all elections through a general election cycle. Requests must be received by the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 5 pm on the tenth day before the election. Florida Driver's License/Florida Identification number OR last four of Social Security Number must be provided to complete a request.

Voters who want their ballot mailed to an address that is not their address on record will be required to submit their request in writing. The written request must include the voter's signature.

By State Law, Vote By Mail ballots cannot be issued on Election Day except in the case of an emergency, to the extent that the voter will be unable to go to his/her assigned polling place. The voter or voter's designee must submit an affidavit regarding the emergency.

If Requesting a Vote By Mail Ballot For Someone Other Than Yourself:

If a voter has designated an immediate family member or legal guardian to request a ballot, that designee must provide the following information:

• The name of the voter for whom the ballot is requested
• The voter's address, date of birth, and signature (written request only).
• The designee's name, address, driver's license number, relationship to the voter, and signature (written request only). 

Who Can Pick Up Vote By Mail Ballots?

A registered qualified voter may designate in writing another person to pick up their ballot. Carry out ballots are available to a designee no earlier than five days prior to Election Day. The designee may only pick up two vote by mail ballots per election other than his or her own, except for ballots picked up for his or her immediate family. The designee must provide picture identification, written authorization from the voter, and complete an affidavit.

"Immediate family" is defined as spouse, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling of the designee or designee's spouse or legal guardian. The requester must disclose the relationship. 

Returning A Vote By Mail Ballot

Voted ballots must be mailed or delivered in person, reaching the Supervisor of Elections' Office no later than 7 pm on Election Day. DO NOT RETURN YOUR BALLOT TO A PRECINCT POLLING LOCATION. 

To check the status of your returned vote by mail ballot, select My Registration Status from the menu at the top of the home page, complete the form with the required information, then select Show My Mail Ballot Information.

Military, Merchant Marine, or Civilians Residing Overseas

Military (and their dependents), Merchant Marine, and Civilians Residing Overseas should complete a Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) which is obtained from their Unit Voting Officer or can be downloaded from this webpage. Once the form is completed and signed you may mail it to:

You may create a postage paid envelope to return your FPCA by placing a #10 business envelope in your printer and downloading the FPCA Envelope Template.

If you are already a registered voter, Vote By Mail Ballots may be requested by email, phone or in writing. All requests must be addressed to the Supervisor of Elections Office. Spouses and dependents are considered to be in the same category as their military sponsors and generally should follow the same rules.

Vote By Mail Ballot Processing

Once the Supervisor of Elections Office has the Voter's request for a Vote By Mail Ballot on record we will:

• Mail or email ballots approximately 45 days prior to Election Day to voters in the military or residing overseas who have requested a Vote By Mail Ballot.
• Mail ballots to all other requesters of Vote By Mail Ballots approximately 30 days prior to Election Day.

Note: Ballots cannot be forwarded (excluding overseas and military addresses). Please ensure the Supervisor of Elections Office has your most current address on file.

Omitted Signature Affidavit for Vote-By-Mail Ballot -  The affidavit is for use by a voter when the voter returns a Vote-By-Mail ballot without signing the Voter’s Certificate: Pursuant to Florida Statute 101.68 (4) (c).
